Terms & Conditions
Trading as Vale Roofing Ltd ("we", "us", "our")
These terms and conditions govern the agreement between you (the "Client") and Vale Roofing Ltd for the provision of roofing services (the "Work" or "Works") at the premises detailed in the Specification of Works or signed agreement.
Quality Materials
We commit to using high-quality roofing materials appropriate for the job.
Material Descriptions
Materials supplied will align with the Specification of Works. Please note that variations in colour, texture, or consistency may occur naturally during manufacture or storage. We cannot accept responsibility for rust staining due to natural aggregates or efflorescence in cement- or resin-based products.
Professional Conduct
We will carry out all Work with care and attention, aiming to minimise disruption during preparation, execution, and completion. Some disturbance is, however, unavoidable.
Following Instructions
We will adhere to your reasonable instructions, provided they are consistent with this agreement and the Specification of Works.
Product Improvements
We reserve the right to make improvements to materials, methods, or specifications where necessary to meet legal, safety, or performance standards, provided this does not significantly alter the agreed appearance or functionality.
Pricing
The total price for the Works is outlined in the agreement. Any agreed variations will be priced separately.
Your Commitments
Payment Terms
Unless otherwise agreed in writing:
- A deposit is due upon booking
- 50% of the balance is due upon commencement of roofing works
- The remaining 50% is payable on completion
All payments should be made by bank transfer and within agreed timelines.
Late Payments
Late payments will accrue interest at 3% above the Bank of England base rate per day. You may also be charged for reasonable recovery costs, such as legal or collection agency fees.
VAT
All applicable VAT must be paid in full based on the invoice date.
Access & Permissions
You must obtain all necessary permissions for the Work (e.g., planning permission, landlord consent). You must also provide reasonable access to the property for the duration of the Works, including access for remedial work if necessary.
Aftercare
You are responsible for the care of the roofing Works once completed. We will provide any relevant care instructions that must be followed to preserve warranties.
Signage & Media
We reserve the right to place signage at the Work site and to take photographs or videos for marketing purposes. We will ensure no personal information or registration plates are identifiable.
Additional Charges
The quoted price assumes normal working conditions. Additional charges may apply for unforeseen complications such as:
- Poor substructure or unstable roofing timbers
- Excessive water ingress or rot
- Previously undisclosed structural issues
- Access restrictions or safety hazards
If such conditions arise, we will inform you and provide an estimate for the additional costs. If the total additional cost exceeds 40% of the original agreed sum, you may cancel the agreement provided you cover all work completed, any reinstatement, and costs incurred to date.
Total Cost
The total payable is outlined in your agreement. If an exact figure cannot be determined upfront (e.g., due to scope uncertainty), a rate per square metre will be used. Should initial measurements prove incorrect, we reserve the right to adjust the final cost accordingly.
Commencement and Completion
We will aim to start the Works on or near the estimated start date. However, we cannot be held responsible for delays outside our control, including (but not limited to):
- Extreme weather
- Industrial strikes
- Material shortages
- Utility outages
We will notify you of the start date and accommodate reasonable requests for delays up to 14 days, subject to our availability.
Title and Liability
Title to all goods and materials remains with us until full payment is received.
We are not liable for damage caused by:
- Natural growth (e.g., moss, algae)
- Misuse or neglect
- Chemical exposure
- Unauthorised alterations or repairs
- Failure to follow care instructions
We cannot accept responsibility for existing issues or damage caused by buried or inadequately installed services (e.g., wires, pipes), nor for natural settlement or future maintenance requirements.
Right to Cancel
If you cancel after 14 calendar days from the booking date, a cancellation fee may apply. This will be based on:
- Labour already committed or carried out
- Material costs incurred
- Any associated administrative or third-party fees
You will be informed of any such costs in writing at the time of cancellation.
